It's time to introduce "Uncle Toe," my regular riding buddy.

He's not actually my Uncle, just a very good mate but he's a pretty good biker and he's been teaching me some skills.
Unfortunately, every enthusiastic demonstration from him seems to be immediately followed by him pummelling himself into the ground which is where the "Uncle Toe" bit came in, i.e "Oooh, more coaching from Uncle Toe, I'll grab the camcorder biggrin.gif "
Anyway, he's naturally very fit, fearless and rode a lot as a kid so it's really good practice for me trying to keep him in sight.

So, to me getting faster......

Night ride at Blean last night. It was one of those sessions where we both kind of decided to stick to the smoother paths and just give it some beans and have some fun.
At one point, I was leading as the path swept downhill before kinking left. Thing is, the path was half inch deep in mud and leaf litter and sitting on a bed of moist clay rolleyes.gif
I approached at probably best part of 20mph which feels pretty damn quick on liquid mud in the dark with a rapidly approaching bend as I assessed my options...

Option (1) The usual, frantic but gentle slowing down before getting there.

Option (2) Weight over the bike and push the bike down into it

Option (3) Hang off as much as possible in a sports-motorbike stylee.

I bravely dismissed option 1 as I'm getting bored of being scared and as I was debating the merits of the other two options, I realised I was in the corner.
I kind of decided on a mixture of options 2&3 overlaced with a large dose of hoping for the best whilst trying to relax my grip on the bars.........

And it worked stupidlyhappy.gif

There was much slithering and sliding, and I really don't think that it could've been taken very much faster without some serious skill being pressed into service so I was feeling quite chuffed.
Even more so with Uncle Toes comments when we stopped further on of "Did you sh1t yourself, I sh1t myself on that bend, that was well quick" biggrin.gif

Praise indeed...
