Just about a month ago SWMBO agreed to me doing the Transwales 2012, which is great as this year i havent turned the pedals in anger at all. Ive taken the last few weeks of gentle rides to pick up the pace and yesterday i rode fairly hard for the first time. Although smashed i feel like i can start to put in some base miles before the end of the season, primarily for giving me a good start come January. So to hang myself now. Objective for next years race: - Finish the race with no penalties. - Finish all the timed sections. - End the race with a good result in comparison to age group, (solo mens) - Feel like i gave everything. - Have no regrets. Where i see my self. October 2011, fit as a fiddle, will tear round the Viking Challenge. November 2011, boring miles lots of them, some technical mostly mile munching December 2011, take a week break at christmas, more mile munching January 2012, Hopefully take the opportunity for long offroad miles in crisp cold conditions, Jacobs sounds about right. February 2012, more mile munching, adding in an extra ride per week than currently doing. March 2012, Set as an easy month. take a short holiday. April 2012, Pick up the pace back to February standard. May 2012, Drop some miles, look at picking up sprinting / climbing full on bursts June 2012, As May, power and strength conditioning. (edit based on 2011 6 minutes full on burst required) July 2012, Relax the training enjoy the riding. August 2012, As July be ready for the event, ride and enjoy cause if you get here on schedul it will be easy. Or start crying because you got it all wrong..... First thing to do, fix the bike, the brakes still work, everything else needs attention........ *Note to self*, remember to add your traing sessions below!!!!!!!!!!! 24-8-2011 First ride with some dudes i just met, went pretty well, 2.5 hours, no problems just need a bit of fitness, Shining cliff and Chevin. 27-8-2011 just completed 3 laps of FTD, absolutely no pace on the climbs but the stamina is still there, 45 mins a lap, very wet conditions. No holdups, feel good, need to get some strength to blast those climbs as they drained me too easy today. 30-8-2011 Nice easy ride out, mixed with some heavy 1 minute full on sprints, felt good to get some power down.....came back fresh 2-9-2011 beautiful nght for a ride out, met up with a few guys and rode to Black rocks in a roundabout way, pace was ok but still riding near my limit when i should be more comfortable, but my stamina is returning as i got back with good legs again. (1 guy rang to be picked up) still no speed and breathing out my arse but its getting better each ride. 3 hours, lots of climbing. 4-9-2011 crap morning but a great ride, nice and hilly!, legs took a couple hours to start working but hell its been a busy week, no power at all but 4 hours riding completed on a banana and chocky bar. Not so bad really. 9-9-2011 starting to feel good on the bike then broke my ankle, come back in 6 weeks.
