I'm OK for the 16th Feb, looking forward to it!! stupidlyhappy.gif (although usual caveat that I may be a bit slow, etc!!!)

Not to worry ... and as Bob will vouch, the pace on my rides is fairly pedestrian. Plus the condition on my rides is we ride at the pace of the slowest person in the group.

Just bumping this one up the tree a bit to remind folks that the February Swinley ride is a week Saturday, so start getting the passes from your SWMBOs or suitable excuses ready.

Just as well it wasn't this weekend. I've picked up a nasty cold myself and have felt too rough to ride anywhere. tongue.gif Hope you have a good outing.

Nice one Phipsy, see you there.

What time are we thinking of guys? 9.30 - 10 suits me, but reasonable flexible.

Hedgehog - i'm reckoning i've got severe man-flu, but i'll soldier on!!

The visitors centre opens at 10:00 and we need to get riding permits for the day so I suggest we aim to get there around 9:45 to allow time for bike assembly, any pre-ride 'fettling' and generally saying hello (since most of us haven't yet met).

BTW : Anyone who's thinking to ride - please post here and I'll IM you with my number. So far we've got 4 names in the frames.

Just confirming I'm definitely in. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

For info, you can also get the permits online (just tried this for the hell of it). They ask you print out the email receipts and bring them on the day as proof of purchase.

My word, it works ... the wonders of modern science.

In this case I suggest (if everyone is in agreement) we try to meet a little earlier to avoid the 'rush'.

Proposed revised time - meet at 9:15 for a 9:30 start.

Good stuff! My permit to ride all done.

Will do my best to get there for 9.15 (fingers crossed that my 1 year old doesn't keep me awake all night!!)

Fine by me. I wasn't out on the bike last weekend so I'm really looking forward to this. I don't want to freak out the new guys, but I'm 9 stones of Iron Man honed fitness and ride a rig with a helium alloy frame which weighs in at 0.2 kg. I wear skin-tight gear adorned with a dozen logos of my main sponsors - rather like a large multi-coloured body durex. And I pedal so fast that my legs actually make a humming noise. But we're all equal on forum rides so I won't laugh too much at the rest of you.

Just checked the BBC 5 day forecast and it looks like there's no rain expected before the weekend, but Saturday is looking like it'll be chilly - so wrap up warm.

Also - don't forget there's a cafe at the visitors centre where we can go afterwards for a post ride cup of coffee and slice of fruit cake whilst we have a post ride chin-wag.

Thanks for another great ride today Andy. Google earth file for anyone interested. I can also PM the ride overlaid on my OS 25K map if you like (can't do a public post for copyright reasons). I still find myself amazed at this place. Close to London, a ton of familes in the car par park, but 5 minutes later you're in proper single track and genuine technical challenge and it feels like you've got the whole place to yourself. Good to meet marcliam & phipsy, thoroughly enjoyable morning in good company - short but sweet. I was dead chuffed with myself for not bottling a couple of the trickier bits.
