I got 2 TrustFires with my new P7 as you do... Been on one ride and now one of them is making a strange buzzing/whistling noise when charging. It charged fine (silent) the first time. It is the same in both charging slots. The other one battery is fine. Is it a duff or leaking? Bit worried about charging it as I don't want my house burning down :/

Cheers guys/girls!

It always pays to be cautious with LiPo batteries.

Not had this happen to mine.
I presume they are the protected type and the using a recommended charger.
This should be a very safe option.

Had a near miss with lipo's when I was RC racing and they were first introduced. (different to the 18650)
We used adjustable techy smart chargers, but I made the mistake or recharging cells when they had just finished charging.
I had just popped out to the car for something, luckily the guy on the pit bench heard the fizzing and the funky smell.

General rule is never leave them charging unattended.

THIS is what happens when it goes wrong.

Got one of THESE soon afterwards biggrin.gif

You should be ok, but just get another set to be on the safe side.

Are you sure it is n't the charger?

I hear whistling / whining from my nokia phone, Hope light battery and both my trustfires.

Wifey recons I'm a bit weird of hearing though 'cuz she can't hear a thing????

I "think" it is the battery itself, the pitch changes when I press or squeeze the battery. And this is why im thinking it could be duff... But I have absolutley no experience with these batteries so i'm just a bit worried.

Most battery charging incidents have happened with multiple cell units charged in 'dumb' chargers. What usually happens is either the incorrect charging setting is selected e.g. charge for six cells instead of five or a repeat charging cycle is run by mistake. These generally don't happen with single cell/dual cell smart chargers which are no more dangerous in my mind than your mobile phone or laptop charging. Please don't sue me if yours burns your house or shed down however. wink.gif

Given how reasonably priced these cells are if I had one that made a funny noise on charging I would consider replacing it however. think.gif
