The Timberland trail is situated in Ashton Court in west Bristol. Maintained by volunteers and managed by the Forestry Commission it provides 8 miles of twisty rooty singletrack and is suitable for all.

It contains two routes, the yellow family route and a red intermediate extension that adds a more technical section to the family trail. The section of the yellow trail near the quarry contain a couple of small logs to ride over but most other obstacles can be avoided if you so choose. The red section contains several logs of varying sizes (most cannot be avoided), much tighter and narrower turns, and even two large rock drops towards the end. It should be noted that the first of these cannot be rolled even with a bash ring, the second can even without.

The trail is basically clay so is very susceptible to recent weather, when its wet is can quickly turn into a mud bath and often takes a week of good weather to completely drain. In the dry however it is an excellent intermediate short trail taking 1-2 hours to complete if doing the red extension.

The postcode of the mansion is BS41 9JN which is just next to the carpark.

It's a Google Earth (download and install) file rather than a Google Maps file.

Yes, but read the sign at the start by the main entrance as it crosses itself and you can lose it there.

When are you thinking you might be there? This weekend?
