I know that a lot of the frequenters on here are also on one or two other social network sites and will already be aware that our own LGB placed third behind two elite riders in a national DH comp. I just think that we should all congratulate her and show her our support from her early 'flying' days dizzy.gif of lacking confidence to a point where the eyes are looking steely and well down the trail looking for the fastest line.
Littlegirlbunny I salute you worship.gif

Haha, cheers Suggs - hate to burst your bubble but it was only the Forest of Dean DTV round, not a big national DH race! Just a wee local thing and a relatively easy short course. laugh.gif

One day I might brave some bigger trails. I'm alright at the big jumpityjumps now, but still aint too good at techy.

Oh, and it's not the first podium either....oh the joys of being a medium sized fish in a very very very very small pond laugh.gif

February Mini DH was my first proper race - 3rd behind Jess Stone (Pro) and Leanne Bartleman (BDS rider). Good result for my first race, was a pretty big field for ladies then too (11 riders)

Steel city - came 2nd.....Carrie Poole came first and Hannah Barnes was 3rd - Was a great result for me as I was on a DH bike and the track was soooo flat a trail bike would've been far quicker. 1st n 3rd were both on Orange 5's. There was a field of 13.

Me n Jess Stone n the lady herself Tracy Moseley biggrin.gif Jess was only a second off Tracy - she'll be doing well at WC level soon now doubt. TBH, I made a bit of an arse of Sunday's race, it's just the field was pretty small (7) so I got away with it. Did have a good clear, but relatively slow first run and then was gonna pin my second....except ballsed-up at the top and then didn't bother pedalling to try and catch up the time I had lost. Probably should've really tried harder on the second run as I may have made up some time.....all the podiums n that, they aren't really relevant to me, I just like to know I have done my absolute best against the clock, but tbh, I rarely do. I'm still not sure racing is for me. I find the whole thing a big load of stress!

3 podiums and not sure ohmy.gif

I've no chance of ever making a podium and I still do the odd race. You just need to learn to enjoy them Jo. Treat them as a ride and a laugh like any normal ride. That's what I do to get my mid table mediocre results biggrin.gif

You thought of doing any of the Gravity Enduros ? You'd probably do well at them too.

If it hadn't have been for you, Nigel, Joiner, Lee n the rest of the peaks crew being soooo patient with me I'd never have stuck with it at the very start. Following on from that, getting out with the Cannock bunch, to the Mynd and on G-man's epics are also fond memories...and getting a day of mechanical training off Bodge after crashing in the peaks, which I'm eternally grateful for....never will I over-tighten a bolt!

...I miss those adventures sad.gif

Good job I'm just finalising the spec to order my Orange Five so I can start organising more adventures biggrin.gif

I often think I'd never have taken to mountainbiking as much as I did if it hadn't had been for the members of this forum. Using other forums makes me realise just how lovely this wee corner of the internet is smile.gif

I'm also lucky to have had training off Jedi who really did bring the best out in me, and still regularly helps out when I have questions etc about riding.

Hahaha i've just read that back and it sounds like an Oscars speech laugh.gif

I think it would be easier if the field of ladies was bigger and I could get lost in amongst the others. It's a bit weird to come into the finish line and hear the announcer call me out as littlegirlbunny and talk about where I came at Sheffield blink.gif

I'm not fit enough for the gravity enduros.......it's just too much like hard work on top of a hard-working week to get enough miles in. It's easier for me to keep a basic DH fitness than endurance fitness around work.

You don't need to be super fit. Plenty of DH guys smoking fags before they start and pushing up all the hills!

Besides I've seen your training schedule: somewhat better than my couple of rides a week and a load of ale and pizza!

Thing is, I have no natural fitness whatsoever. I really was the fat kid at school that always tried to get out of PE.....I have to work very very hard to even maintain a basic level of fitness. To keep up with the guys on even casual paced all-day rides I have to put serious miles in. sneaky.gif
