I enjoyed today's ride, a kinda sociable one! A lot of fun and jumps smile.gif it was good, there were no any perferct_jumper_kids around , so I did not shy of my crappy jumps and could exercise a bit. video and pics will be ready by tomorrow I hope (edit, render and upload is a bit time consuming).

Had a enjoyable return ride today! Was quitely chuffed with myself that after so long with minimal riding didn't feel too bad by the end. The very final fire road climb was all that my legs had in them though and any longer and I would have been fubared. Great to see everybody again and meet a few new faces.

French Aristo - sorry about the buckled wheel assume you managed to wobble safely back to the car park!

Really enjoyed todays ride, just what the Dr ordered and welcome back into the fold Marc! you did well mate.

FA, I hope you are ok, it looked pretty nasty from where i was standing and i think we might have the footage of the incident. That wheel should be easy to fix, just need the ride technique.

The Malvern ride is next week! does anyone fancy it? it would be something different.

cheers

Maj

Yes, there is a footage, but it is not that clear.

Regarding Malvern, could you give some more info? when, where?

Would but from one of your bike would defeat the object as they are likely to brake down on me when I am the farthest away from the starting point. naughty.gif

Seems a one up on Vespa1871's spill on the same day.

Mine is a case of I have no knowledge of the actual incident or much anything until I woke up in Frimley ICU on Monday!.

Me and Bungalistic had been messing about the Labyrinth area most of Saturday afternoon, and I was practising jumps a little, then we were heading back and went off the DH-illy bit to the right of the big climb up to top.

... and my memory stops there!

Apparently there were some drops worth trying and I tried one, and ended up a right mess. I'm guessing got the weight entirely wrong and went over the bars, as I smashed up the face, got concussion and fractured a couple of vertebrae.

Out of ICU end of Monday I think, and finally released from hospital on Friday. Now taking it easy for a couple of weeks. 6 or so estimated to repair the vertebrae but apparently they're fairly stably damaged so should repair well. Head is still dizzy.

Full credit to Bungalistic who helped me out (I apparently walked all the way back to Go Ape with him in a concussed state and I have no memory of that), whoever it was at Go Ape that helped out also apparently, and of course the ambulance guys and definitely impressed with the Frimley Park Hospital folk. worship.gif

And all this after I was having a dig at the kids who keep needing ambulances and airlifts from Swinley biggrin.gif

Anyone who saw the incident or knows of what happened, I'd love to hear from by the way! If you've got it on video, all the better biggrin.gif

DK, hope you heal quick, sounds like a big one! Don't rush the recovery, but hope you're back on it soon! Nice one to all the folks that helped along the way.

Geeze - sounds like weekend for tumbles!

I took my brother over to Swinley for the first time on his Costco MuddyFox (how evil am I). We were taking it very easy when we found some poor bloke at the bottom of the rollercoaster totally out of it - bike 20 ft in the trees - knees covered in blood - not able to speak - really struggling to breathe - couldn't tell me his name or where he was, actually bloody scary and made me wish I had first aid training!

Managed to walk him out of the trail and sit him on a log at the clearing at the bottom, he was really badly concussed and didn't have a skid lid on. Managed to slow his breathing down and get him cleaned up and finally bring him back to the land of the living, turns out he cartwheeled on his bike and hit a tree back on at about 20mph-ish - thankfully his camelbak took the force of the crash but the poor buggers back was cut to bits and the left hand side was really badly bruised and swollen. . . .

About 15 mins after we discovered him the group he was riding with realised he was missing and returned!

Slowed me down for the rest of the day I have to admit! I have lost count of the number of times I have ridden Swinley solo in the evening and clocked up decent speed on some of the descents, never really thought about what would happen if I wiped out on one of the trails that walkers/dog walkers don't use. . . .

Be careful out there people - but still be fast ;-)
