Very interesting you all mention BOBS as we also "ran into" them on Seagul going the "wrong way". Did not say anything and thanked them for pulling over as there where 15 of us from another forum. Got a very rude "we built this" followed by "its not a race" and then some other mutterings which i chose to ignore. It was the same old GIT who should know better than to take a group out for a Swinley/MTB induction on a Sunday the wriong way up a trail that is well used. Just thought i would let you know we experianced the same thing. Copy of email i just sent below. Your email is pretty much the same as mine Warren. Be interested if either of us gets a reply back from them. Let us know if you do. |

Be very interested to hear the response to the BOB emails. I have to say that in my time mtb'ing I have found very few ar$es out on the trails, most are passionate about riding, happy to stop and swap stories, advice and directions. OK sometimes people don't smile too much as they pass but in my case that will be because I'm concentrating on not falling off the bike!
Love to ride on Tuesday but sadly won't be possible. I am however in intensive negotiations with SWMBO to arrange a more regular trip to join you guys on a weekday evening every so often. Wish me luck!!!! -------------------- WD40 is for spraying onto things that you think you should be performing some kind of maintenance on but have no clue where to start or what to do.

I've got a pass for Saturday if anyone is interested in a Swinley ride at the weekend.

Hmmmmm Mark, DrBike - come out on Sunday to Tunnel Hill. As Maj and Kerr will (hopefully) tell you the place is brilliant, and will have something for everyone. Pace would be relaxed as my brothers will probably be coming out and they have more enthusiasm than speed at the moment. I think Maj is going to post it up as a ride (I wouldn't know where to start). Come, you'll love it I promise. |

Mark, DrBike - come out on Sunday to Tunnel Hill. I'd love to come on Sunday, but my riding "windows" are limited. -------------------- Dr Bike takes no responsibility for damaged limbs or failed relationships as the result of his advice.

Kevin and I will be out this weekend, probably Swinley on Saturday but what's Tunnel Hill?
If it's a hard slog, we'll probably stick with Swinley as I'm switching over to the Cypher now until we get back from France. The bike's great but is that bit heavier to pull along. Sue |

Tunnel hill is typically about 300m more climbing in the same time frame/distance.
No purpose built tracks. Much less roots. No braking bumps. More drops. Northshore. (includes scary narrow bridges, see saws etc). Steeps. Generally a bit more gnarly. Kerr |

Might do a bit of exploring around the top of the reservoir in the expert area. Think an area well neglected on our rides. Kerr |

Trails now officially need some rain... yes RAIN.
Not much, but just a little rain to bind the dirt rather than the current talcom powder. Cheers maj for coming last night. Great ride. Note to self.. Dont have large evening meal then go riding. Struggled for first half of the ride whilst my metablism was occupied digesting the meatballs. Funny , can pinpoint the exact moment my body stopped doing this. It was like suddenly going from 3 cylinders to 4. If anyone's free I will prob be going over on thursday evening. Kerr |
