If you can do Snowdon outside the banned times then it's well worth it! Probably my best day on the bike this year. Out of the trail centres I rode Nant Yr Arian was my favourite, but would love to do Penmachno.

I cannot do that weekend as I'm planning on watching the Olympic road race which passes along the A25 past Newlands Corner and on to Box Hill.
For welsh trip I'd suggest choosing from some of Brechfa area inc Brecon Beacons and Afan. You could spend 2 days easily around Brechfa. South Wales has lots to offer and more easily accessible than North for you. You can do some research on bike Brechfa's website (they do guiding if you wish) and mtb Wales. I was planning to do 3 days in April Brechfa + Beacons around Crickhowell but it got washed out. We were walking in the Brecons this weekend, saw a few riders grinding up the Gap Road. Does anyone here know what the descent is like these days, I heard it had been sanitised ? |

I know fred is organizing a FOD uplift the week after. Anyway, who can and who can't make it on that weekend. M |

I'm in. Brechfa+Gap ride I would suggest you get some feedback re gap road descent, I'd heard it's been sanitized (LGB posted to that effect). Is the ride worth doing without that as the highlight ? As noted I saw a few riders doing it when I was there walking a couple of weeks ago. Certainly a stunning place. Also bikebrechfa do guiding at a very reasonable rate I thought, might be an option to find a hidden gem |

Vespa,
Looking forward to this and we have picked a corker of a week to go weather wise I am easy with the location. Regarding the camping - do we have to go to a campsite? Can't we just put our tents up somewhere in the middle of nowhere. I will bring a couple of portable bbqs (just in case we cant light a fire) and cook us something at least on the friday. This will be proper Bear Grylls stylee man Anyone else fancy coming along either for a single day or both with camping? Its going to be good! |
