Never been to the Peaks before but I'm tempted to give it a go on Monday as I haven't had a proper xc ride in ages and the weather will probably be good! I don't have a gps so would be relying on maps, does anyone have a link to a good mapped route/loop? How easy is it to get lost there?!

Have seen some routes on Mad Pierre's site, which of these would be best for a peaks noob?

tom around ladybower is always a good option.theres plenty to go at and if you do get a bit lost or feel knackered you can always cut it short and head back to the car if you have a map to follow. i can do you a good route if you like and post it in maps for you to copy onto a map with a highlight pen.

just click on the ordnance survey icon and it will show you the map
also with it being a bank holiday there should be plenty of riders or walkers to ask..........we are mostly a friendly lot in the peaks....with just the odd exception cool.gif

Then as Glynn says, hit Ladybower, the loop around the lake is pretty flat and there's lots of options to try a few good long climbs on the way round if you please, just lookout for mountain bikers with big grins.

The last car park on the right before the centre is free (last time i went) get there early or the whole place will be rammed.
