Hey,

Tomorrow entering "The trail" with my dad tomorrow, the first time he has done this trail with me usually I go with my friend, see how it goes.

The trail is little bit open but mostly in the woods. The trail is really long but the path you need to take is narrow and it also runs next to a stream most of the way. Half way through you have to cross the stream by jumping over it (loads of fun if you don't fall in) then you get to a bit with some ramps and climbs which have been left from the old mines, it is mostly slag and rock ect. Its is a really good fun run takes 2-3 hours long and you also get wet and muddy loads of fun.

If you fancy going just contact me and i will organise a trip. stupidlyhappy.gif

We call the trail locally the "Urangutang" and it has 4 or 5 sections , the bit next to the stream is nick named "Nettle Alley" during the summer.

Most of the park is open as you say, would be cool to go ride sometime soon but as i am just getting over a broken ankle and 4 months off the bike i cant offer much pace right now (but still more than Fletch) stupidlyhappy.gif Muhahaha

Hi all,

I rode through shipley park at the weekend and live not far from LE. I would love to get 20miles out out this area. My route takes me up the nubook through shipley and towards smalley.

I'm new to the forum and mountain biking so any tips on where to go would be great!

Hey hey Survey

If your keen as mustard you can try Buzz cycles in Belper https://www.facebook.com/#!/BuzzCycles

Theres a nice bunch of fellas that regularly ride out from the shop who will show you all you need to know, but you do need to have at least moderate fitness level or better as theres a bunch of hills to climb straight off.

If its just a tumble round the park then me and Fletch will gladly take you more locally once he has got some form unsure.gif one day lol

Hi Al,

I dont think im up to that level yet! Ive met Stef (used to go to the same school) and he offered to show me a local route but i declined. I was looking at a forme stag at the time.

I'm starting to get a bit more ambitious but i do regularary get nailed on the bike even when my thighs are on fire. I hope your ankle is on the mend, i snapped my achillies tendon last feb and took up biking to help the rehab.

Ankles a lot better thanks but i am not going on anything rough just yet until i can be totally confident its healed.

Stef's a great fella, in my day we called him the dot man because he was always way up front, head down arse up trying to get to the cafe stop first!!

Since then i have slowed down to a more sedate snails pace stupidlyhappy.gif

I will be in the park tomorrow afternoon about 1 if your free, offer open to all rolleyes.gif coming in via the visitors centre car park and no doubt have fletch with me too rolleyes.gif

No, i didnt know he had a bro.

I got a bunch of routes starting in Shipley park and heading to Millford, Belper , Chevin, Ambergate and back. Varying distances and great for those summer days out. Be more than happy to have your company but i wont be attempting for a couple months.

Look up brackley gate woods and the chevin chase, theres some super riding to be had when they dry out in those areas.

cheers

I went up to brackley gate wood about a month ago(which i know as morley woods). I saw one of my old mates parked up, he was doing abit of down hill. i had quite go but it was the first time i was out in my clipless so steady was the word!

Im a belper lad so i know of the chevin but never got up there on a bike.
