If the cable was stuck at the mech end and you pressure it through the shifter there is a good chance it will have stretched somewhat - especially as richy says if it's new.

cable stretch, sticky cables..and me diddling lol...had episode number 2 this aft, managed to track down some quad qhd-1 brake pads..same as shimano deore pads

lee im at work at mo. so cant stay on here.im no wiz but i was messin with mine earlier this week on hard tail after replacing rear cassette, it can be avery fine line between getting em right and completely wrong
