Only a matter of time when someone posts this on here, but turns out Rage against the machine bassist Tim Commerford is mountain biking fanatic. (hes actually in MBUK earlier this year)
So based on that (well one of the band had to be a mtber really...I mean they live in California) we aught to jump on the bandwagon and promote Killing in the name of for No1 at xmas. For those not on Friendface or twatter you grab this from amazon for 29p. (it does count) Dont let your kids or granny know you have it, it contains rude words and they will think your a grinch for ruining x-mas. (the x in xmas stands for xfactor! did you know that!) Sorry I don't do Twatter or friend face or whatever..... so I don't know what happen's out there....?
Why is "Killing in the name of" being promoted as a Xmas single? I've already got the album on one of them old fangled CD's and have obviously already lowered the sound quality for listening to it by putting it on my iPod too.... so I ain't gonna buy it again. -------------------- Jaws was never my scene and I don't like Star Wars

Its a campaign to prevent Xfactor from getting the xmas no1 spot for the upteenth year in a row. RATM are giving proceeds to Youth Music in the Uk a charity that promotes REAL music not karioke wannabie. They are currently in the lead. You can download the live version from http://www.tunetribe.com If want, it still counts. Kerr -------------------- |

Kerr Both songs are on the same record label(Sony)of which Mr Cowell has a subsidiary label (syco) so either way is money in the bank. There's also a rumour floating about that the high waist banded one started the whole campaign off to make it an "exciting" Xmas no1 race for a change. It also looks like the the top 10 albums have been boosted by the X-factor. in some way or other. -------------------- |

Well I have already downloaded my copy a few days ago despite already having it. Yes - I appreciate it is all money in Sony's pockets BUT having heard the x-factor sh*t£ we simply can't allow it to get to number 1!!

To quote someone on another forum
QUOTE Oh, the irony. 'F*ck you I won't do what you tell me' ? Isn't that what everyone buying the RATM single is actually doing? He does have a point. -------------------- |

It also looks like the the top 10 albums have been boosted by the X-factor. in some way or other. Sony are making money, yes. It's sony's job to make money, though, so you can't exactly blame them. Some people may have a problem with sony making money, my only question is, why? If simon cowell was profiting directly from this, then 2nd thoughts would be rife. however, he's not getting money for every RATM record sold, sony are getting money. Just as sony get money for every SC record sold. If sony had started this, that'd be kinda entertaining and very good thinking on their part Now, does anyone know where I can download a censored version of KITN from which will count towards the charts? (and yes, I appreciate the irony of buying a single with the lyrics "I won't do what you tell me" because someone else said to buy it, but I've always wanted a censored version of KITN, so now seems as good a time to buy it as any) -------------------- "Say something that you know they might attack you for"

The objective for this is ONLY to stop the xfactor taking permanent hold on the charts and sending a message to the sonys, simons and the public that this kind of music is not the only music on offer to the public. Kids thease days seem to fall for the instant gratification in all ways. Games consoles, guitar hero, xfactor, big brother, celebrity, wags, etc seem to be creating a generation of instant gratification. If music is seen a game show not hard work and talent, the the rest of life will eventually fall into the same pattern. They (simon cowells of the industry) know how far-reaching it is to knock off xfactor and put a political rock band in its place. The repocusions for the music industry are massive. You only got to read the history of a band like the artic monkeys (not my cup of tea BTW) on how much they are beaten to make changes to thier style, lyrics etc by music industry. Hats off to them for sticking to thier guns! Who else really new and inovative have we had in the last 4-5 years since Xfactor came about? Now do you get this? I love the fact that they appeared/played live on BBC Radio 5 Live, and were asked to keep it clean.
And still ended the song with the original lyrics, "f**k you, I won't do what you tell me". And yet the DJ's/etc seemed shocked that they would sing/do this and asked for it (the link) to be pulled. -------------------- NB: It's unlikely I'll see your reply. So, please PM me if you need a response.

Basically funding new bands is out of the window while this reality tv stuff exists. What if there are NO new decent bands getting funding (pretty much like the last 4-5 years). Here it is again. http://www2.kerrang.com/2009/12/why_you_sh...he_rage_ag.html Where are the new blurs, nirvanas, muses, oasiss. The "small percentage" seem to have to survive on bands +10 year old. Same here, I like the song/band but already have the CD, so I won't pay for it again! Tims mtb skills are alright if I remember right, on an Audioslave dvd I'm sure theres a vid of him doing a pretty big street drop off. |

No idea, but intrigued as to why you want one. Student radio? The end of the song ruins it for me. I don't mind swearing when it is used at most a couple of times to have an effect but gratuitous use as in KITN means I rarely listen to the song, which is a shame because the riff is fantastic. -------------------- "Say something that you know they might attack you for"

Kerr +25 years for some of us Trouble is the masses who buy all the crap are exactly what the record companies want. Why pay to promote a band when these programmes for the brain dead do all the work for them. We've had over a decade of reality TV and people don't seem to be tiring of it.Hopefully they will soon because as we all know when they stop making money they'll stop being made. I'm sure there are some brilliant bands out there unfortunately for the time being the record companies just don't seem bothered.Pulp(not my cup of tea)had being gigging over 10 years before they "made it"with Common People,i believe Elbow have been together 15 years or so before being recognised. These TV wannabees just want over night success, which is why a couple of years down the line they've faded into the obscurity they deservre. The 1st X-Factor winner Steve someone or other was playing Pontins in Prestatyn a few months back -------------------- |

The 1st X-Factor winner Steve someone or other was playing Pontins in Prestatyn a few months back I dont think you give the UK listening public enough credit. There was a time in the late 90s and start of the new millennia when rock and Indy music was the majority! Record companies were forced to fund bands until they found this current formula. Good music CAN be a majority. Just need to wake the public up. Kerr -------------------- |
