I take it we are still using the same start and finish locations?

I will give it go next time i'm there but not before i've done WRT because i just know the red mist will decend and injury will follow!

Yes indeedy sir.

Standing start with front wheel round about level with the tree on the right at the head of the trail. Time stops as soon as you can stop and take a reading when leaving the trail when it joins the fire road.

No taking a second or two off the time "as read" to allow for stopping and reading the clock naughty.gif

Your philosophy may be the best policy... take it easy. No prizes and none (?) of us make a living out of riding a bike but we all stand to lose our source of £ to live if we get it wrong. unsure.gif

Gawd... that's gone and put a curse on me now! banghead.gif stretcher.gif

Couldn't even eat a butty in those times! tongue.gif

SERIOUSLY, sounds like an ace idea. Where are the start and stop points and more importantly what is the route?
Just asking for all those other wanna have a go heroes out there. I always carry a tent with me when I leave the front door. Siht you never know. Snow, volcanoes or just traffic jams!

Does that mean I have to bring two bikes to Wales next time Im up that way?

I never got round to setting a time last year hope to this year.

How oftern are the Athertons at Llandegla? I'd be interested to see what times they could set on the run?

I done the Muc off 8 a few weeks ago it had a timed down hill section with Steve Peat setting a time of 2mins 2 secs, I was only 40 seconds off his time dry.gif with a fall and summer tyres on off camber slick mud (thats my excuse anyway)

I'd love to know what time a proffesional could do too!
Come on down Rachel, Dan and Gee!
Or anyone else who's a top 50 national contender.
I'd guess a 2.50 may be in the offing?

Pugster... I just noticed my clock doesn't stop until I'm stationary for 3 seconds... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. doh.gif

I put a formal appeal in to the stewards (me) but I said it was too late for a protest now. As a result the erm, results still stands.

But I'm out to getcha this year.... hopefully. tongue.gif

Could well do. I'm likely to be up there at about 6.15 ish?

Times wont compare to last years though as there are significant alterations to the trail.

Putting some new tyres on now so I don't know how they / I'll cope? (smallblock 8s)
Ever used 'em?

After the jumps mate.
You come upon the run in question ( I call it the first black run... though technically I believe the jumps are rated black... go figure? think.gif )
anyways up carry on past the jumps and down the trail and depending on whether the diversion is still in place or not it's a little hard to give directions but carry on until you come to 170 degree R/H turn that then goes about 7 yards and gives an option of BLACK then RED very close together both entrances being on the left, It is signed as READ THIS FIRST or some such wordage. All in all about a mile I guess passed the jump section?

It's worth doing the little bit of RED branch then coming back up via the fire road if you want a gentle warm up as it flows quite nicely.

Start with front wheel level with the tree on the right which gives a slightly lumpy up slope start and finish as soon as you can stop at the bottom fire road... hopefully 3 minutes + later. If you do it in less than 3 mins you either cheated or took a wrong turn OR maybe you could possibly be classed as a rather good rider? worship.gif

onn OPAs map it is W72 start W118 finish

3.25 on the Prophet.
Front end felt very odd (looks like a fault on the rebound... alot faster than it was and will only adjust to rebound faster??????)
I also paced myself too slow at the beginning.

SX Trail - 3.20

Well then, this time I paced myself nearly right having a bit too much breath/ legs left at the end but not much I have to say!

Before looking at my watch I was convinced that this one was a good one and would be around 3.15 but alass, on checking it was a 3.20.
Still an improvement. I'm guessing that the high left 170 degree switch-back around a tree and the really cut-up right hander that over-looks the valley is adding time to last years runs?

Come on Pugster chuck a time in for comparison would yer? wink.gif

Tyers wise I have switched to Small Block 8s running a "Ghetto" set-up this year and thus far I'm blinkin' astonished at the grip they offer on groomed trail surfaces... 10/10 clap.gif and they roll great too! stupidlyhappy.gif They were ruddy tight getting them on to the rims however and as such I nearly gave up! unsure.gif

So come on all you who ride at 'Degla make a point of logging a time.
