Hi guys, i've been biking for around 6 months now, and just recently i have been getting lower back pains, they go after i stop riding for a bit, just rather annoying when you get going halfway through a ride. someone suggested it was probably the saddle height however i've never been shown how to fit it to myself.

Any help?

thanks, John.

hi john, not an expert mines done by feel ?. But rule of thumb is bum in seat heal on pedal full extension of leg.
the your toe gives you that extra bit stops your knee locking oout but you got full push through not stressing knee.

but to say that, i like my seat bit lower when through the rough stuff ?.

May invest in one of those trick seat posts, this is only my opinion and very new to mtb but done some road shit in the past.

As Speedy says... spin quicker. It seams to help in my experience.

You mean you don't mash those big gears like you always seemed to Rod?

Is your top tube/stem long enough are you actually cramped by the size of the frame you are riding. I know that MTB*dog (Dan) had a similar back issue with a couple of frames that whilst were the correct size for his leg length were too short for his back (like me short legs long back).
Only other thing to consider is previuos back injuries/age and lack of stretching.
And another big one that is often overlooked pack weight.
How many people out there are not used to carrying 3litres of water and a couple of kilos of tubes etc etc etc on their shoulders-it all adds up to aching back muscles if you aint used to it on a regular basis.

echo the seat adjustment advice.
also i get pain on my road bike but not mtb. that is due to the more bent over position and also to a degree on rocking and 'using lower back to assist pedalling muscles' whihc is probably bad technique.

take ibuprofen and water ....if a real problem use same tabs plus ice. lower back stretch before you go out riding...can also be a sympton of tightness in glutes (bum) or just old age and general decrepitness!

It is in the sitting adjustment so that your upper body can be comfortably being set-up. If the seat of the mtb is not properly in accordance to the body, their is a tendency that bikers suffer a back pain Hampshire specially biking with long hours.

lower back pain can also be caused thro tight hamstrings.cycling never stretches the hamstrings so stretching them out before ,after and during cycling can help.

this ones a more effective one but do it with your head and arse tilted upwards

Well, riding the bicycles is no doubt a wonderful sport and in case any of you is facing the problem of lower back pain then i suggest that you go ahead and opt for a backlife. The product has tremendous results and once you get used to riding the bicycles you can give it up. easily

THAT DUNT EVEN MAKE SENSE!!!
