Haughmond Hill is a woodland just outside Shrewsbury. It’s like a mini northside Cannock with lots of hidden twisty and interesting singletrack and some brilliant bermed descents. It’s got a few short sharp climbs and is best ridden on a hardtail. It’s not very high, around 150metres so rideably in all weathers. It can get a bit gloopy but not like Sherwood Pines!
Parking is free and there is an excellent, but small, café run by two delightful young ladies (well young to me!) Rob (Old bert would) will be leading, so it will be quite quick and I’ll be sweeping up at the back, as usual on my rides! This ride would also be good for newbies, who want to try a forum ride, or the less fit as you’re never too far from the car park if you need to bail. 9.30 start at SY4 4PW Details of Haughmond Hill -------------------- |

Quick As Mick states this could be an ideal ride for those on here who have not been on a forum ride before. Come and give it a go we don't bite, well at least if we're not hungry, hey Mark Rob |

Come and give it a go we don't bite, well at least if we're not hungry, hey Mark Rob I wonder if they did get the dog back. I saw the two sisters in the car park before I went in the cafe and they were pretty upset. The owner showed me a pic of the terrier along with the, "I held it's Mum while it was born ...... ". I had to feel sorry for them and hope it did turn up. Mind you looking at the photo..........It was just the right size for a snack -------------------- You're never too old !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds very tempting - trying to get to know as much riding in the Midlands as possible to save on fuel without spending life at the FoD! Will have to let you know closer to the time

One extra fat bloke will be with you for this
Always like riding somewhere new and the thought of ability to bail and re-stock on pies if I run out of steam sound like just the ticket |

Got the 7th off so may be tempted by this unless other plans get in the way. Will be good to get on a forum ride again, haven't been on one for ages. I'll be singlespeeding in 34-16 I think
Says on the website that it's near Eastridge, I've read on this forum about that being good. Any chance of a detour over to there later in the day? |

Just booked the following week off so I should be off. How far is it from Shrewsbury station?
EDIT: Close enough is the answer. -------------------- |

Says on the website that it's near Eastridge, I've read on this forum about that being good. Any chance of a detour over to there later in the day? It's probably about 15 mile. Rob did suggest a two center ride but I think short daylight will be against us and if it's a typical January day I don't fancy getting back out of a warm car! Eastridge does have a lot to offer but deserves decent weather. It's one for the spring me thinks Just booked the following week off so I should be off. How far is it from Shrewsbury station? EDIT: Close enough is the answer. It's about 5 miles via the riverside path and cycle routes straight to Haughmond. I can pick you up from the station though if you like -------------------- |
