You can advertise in the bargains section although it was originally intended for us to share hot tips on online offers which members may otherwise miss.

I personally think a classifieds section would be great - maybe like the SDH one which can only be seen by members?

im always selling or buying summat Mick, its just Never on here only because there's no dedicated classifieds, it seems any Mtb site i visit i always tend to look at whats for sale ... it also seems to bring more visitors to the sites IMO, (could be wrong on that one tho) and it has seemed a little quiet in here of late which is a shame because this site the nicest bunch of people ive ever rode with on it and it could do with a "boost in the arm" to liven it up again
here's hoping no one takes any offence and personaly i dont like the segrigation between members and none members on websites LGB, division of any kind always gets me the wrong way for "some unknown reason" -------------------- who the F*** let me in here???

I have no strong objections to classifieds, just a normal forum section or something more sophisticated?

They don't seem to have any special software but a big nag list of rules as it would appear that classifieds are even more open to abuse than the rest of the Forum.

im sure it would be self policing in here though Gareth, 80% of us know eachother This is very true, and if the users of the classifieds were the same people who use the forum all the time then we'd be A OK......cos everyone is lovely I suspect putting a classifieds section on the board will generate a good deal more traffic, mostly surrounding buying and selling. If you look at SDH, the vast majority of traffic is exactly this....and due to the numbers of users/products exchanged there are occasional problems. However, I have no doubt our current membership are all suitably intelligent to understand the risks of buying and selling online, especially with people they don't know personally. So the questions are: *do the members want to see a classifieds? *are they happy with the potential extra traffic, including (without wanting to sound like a stern old woman!) potential 'less mature' members, buy-sell dealers and potentially crooks? |

I'm a big fan of recycling unwanted stuff into more bike bits and the secondhand market really does keep MTB afloat for a lot of folks. |

Yeah classifieds are always a good way of getting different kit for different bikes and as I found out via another site there are alot of very good people out there who will even give out the odd freebie for the cost of the postage. (In the case of one it was a pushlock remote for forks that are ridiculously expensive) as it happens I now have a couple of spares sat in my spares box as I had the forks pushed and retro fitted fork top manual switch.
Could I suggest perhaps even a wanted section within the classifieds like that on Singletrackworld.com? |
