Hi,

I'm about to start MTB'ing again after years of not doing anything bike related. I was emailed an offer last night saying that I can get a BH Over-X 5.8 for 400 reduced from 600. 400 is pretty much my budget limit and I want something that is going to be easy to ride, fun and importantly lightweight.

Does anyone have any thoughts about how good this bike is and if that's good value for money? It looks good to me but I can only find two very short reviews. Or can anyone recommend the best bike for up to 400? I'm going to go hard tail, I know that much!

Thanks!

Hi and welcome, I have had a search about and read the parts spec for the bike in question and it is pretty much what you would expect for the money (400). The only reviews that I could find were one owner in Japan and one in the UK who both rated it overall at 4,5 out of 5.
As an entry bike it seems on the face of it to be okay but the only real way of knowing is through ownership.
I note that they are selling them at GoOutdoors for 399 too.
If you can hold on till september time there will be lots of great deals or take a look at Pauls Cycles for instance for some of their hardtails.

Thanks for your advice!

As it happens Go Outdoors is where I heard about the deal. I went down there last Saturday and after waiting 30 minutes to get served (they knew I was waiting) I decided to give up in there and take my money elsewhere!

I've decided to increase my budget a little and I'm now looking at a Cannondale Trail SL4 which appears to be a slightly better bike....I'm going to a local specialist bike shop tomorrow and will hopefully make a purchase! Looking forward to getting biking again smile.gif

Smart move IMO, support your local bike shop and they will look after you and give you a decent service agree.gif
