If you guys are finding Swinley a little samey at the moment, inspired by the recent trailtrax, Im doing a ride down watership down (kingsclere hampshire) next weekend (21 or 22nd).

Fantastic area, amazing views, lots of long swoopy down hills (and climbs) and of course lots of rabbits. Its part of my SDW training so its going to be around 35m (ish).

Here's the planned route.

Ill post it in the calender if anyones interested.
Its about 35 mins from swinley.

kerr

35 miles? you are great if you can do that, last time we did 25m in surrey hills and at the end, just before car park up hill, i could not cycle for 1 minute, so walked all the way up, i don't think i can do 35m sad.gif (never done that long)

very different kind of riding to swinley and surrey hills.
Spend alot more time on the big ring hamering down hills.
The hills are longer, but less steep on the way up.

Vespa's chiltern rides are around 30-35 miles. like for like I would say 30 miles chilterns = 15 miles swinley.

35 miles in Surrey Hills can be a killer if it's up and down each of the hills.

But I can do 35 miles up the tow path from Woking and along the Thames and back without much bother. Much like a road ride, just with some roots across the path occasionally, odd muddy field to pass through, and walkers, dogs and families to avoid ( and pubs to stop at biggrin.gif).

Anyone else fancy organising / leading a ride this saturday. I would if i knew my way around swinely sad.gif

Swinley is easy. Surely you know the main bits by now? Generally just wander around anyway and you bump into it all.

Anyway, not sure what's going on this weekend. Possible Swinley session Sat or Sun but will have to see, especially Sat as may have some other stuff to do. Will see what the BR folk are up to.

Anyone interested in a Swinley pootle, some of us from Bike Radar are out tomorrow 1pm, different start over by Bagshot end, meeting along College Ride by the tennis courts (GU195EW). http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic....56941#p17556941

Relaxed affair, no plans, always unorganised (and I'll probably be late as usual) wink.gif

Funny how it seems to be timed with wet weather. More yellow goo then? wink.gif

Oh, and out of interest, is there, or could there be, a web site that keeps people up to date on maintenance?

Without becoming a member of BoB that is wink.gif
