having found bikehike mapping software I find myself unable to up-load routes.

I have Garmin CX Legend.

Would someone please do an idiots guide on how to coplete this apparently easy straight forward task.

It appears my 'puter does nto recognise / find my GPS device when it's connected and switched on but if some one can give me a :
  1. This
  2. Is
  3. What
  4. You
  5. Do

I may stand a better chance?

Thanks,

Rod

rod have you downloaded the garmin communicator plugin? you should have already to allow your garmin to work with your computer.if so have you clicked on the yellow security bar at top of bikehike page which asks if you want to allow connection

cheers, I'll check tomorrow when I'm fed up because it's a bank holiday and it will be pricipitating profusely. AGAIN!
I can't believe other parts of the country need rain. I recon it's all a plot to get me depressed about the weather.

Allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll Rightyyyyyyyyyyyy,

The rain is persistantly falling in (UN)sunny North Wales & All is sorted.
Not sure what was going on though I didn't do any down loads just checked the "device" was connected via garmin "check connection" and it showed OK.

Off to bike hike and did a quick route for Llanferes to Nercwys Mountain to home and up Snowdon rangers and down some path on the map.

All down loaded to device just fine so it appears I'm hot to trot.

Just need to invest in a life prerserver to get me accross all the floods!

Now that the GPS / 'puter interface is OK how ther dickens do I download routes mentioned in the is very forum such as

http://www.mtbtechniques.co.uk/Maps/Memory...0to%20chirk.gpx

This is something I'm TOTALLY clueless in so start with:

1 ; turn 'puter on
2 ; put kettle on (etc...)
3 ; obtain drinking vessel (such as a mug)
4 ; Place mug in it's correct orientation on a firm level surface
5 ; etc... etc...

just move the map from Munich to the uk then go from there. That confused me when I first went on the site. I use RunGPS pro on my windows pda. it gives me the opportunity to download other peoples routes, or make my own. all my routes are uploaded and stored with all stats. you can upload and download routes in various formats.
