Full Version: movement on new shock bush

I recently bought a new rp23 complete with new bushes. When i first fitted the shock it felt solid with no play on either bush (top or bottom),since doing this i had done about 80-100 miles rocky singletrack no big drops and i noticed a little play in the bush on the shaft of the shock. I've checked all the linkage on the bike and everthing else is solid and ive done about another 30 mile and the play doesn't seem to have got any worse .
Im 99% sure the play is between the eye on the shaft of the shock and the bush supplied with the shock, not only is it annoying but i would have thought it would only get worst, has anyone else had the same problem as this after what i think is little use ?or could it be somthing more specific to the bike that is causing this problem.
Would be thankfull for any input and advice.

Does the bushing move or push out? if so send it back.

Are you sure its not play between the bushing and pivot pin, pivot pins wear and if you didn't replace this at the same time as the shock it may have just worn enough since fitting the new shock to create some play, a new set up requires the pivot pin to be pressed through the bushing with a vice or pressing tool.

I wouldn't ride the bike until you resolve the issue as you may cause damage to the shock or frame.

Good luck.

Just a quick review/post fix analysis - was the the old pivot quite easy to remove and was new pivot pin quite tight to fit? If so should be good to go.

If the new pin is tighter but still pushed into the bushing quite easy, you may have worn the bushing slightly as well and would be it would be worth replacing this as well to avoid early wear again (they are normally a few £'s).

Yes I think your probs right jes im going to order a new Bush ,but I think it was prob more to do with not putting any thread lock on an allready worn internal thread on existing pin. Thanks again
