Anyone done the Gap ride down in Brecon? Plotting a day off work for some welsh stuff
http://www.mtbbreconbeacons.co.uk/hubs/brecon/the-gapBrian,
I've done it a number of times and I really like it. However I don't do the loop that you posted.
The route I've done is starting in Tal-y-Bont, go up road at the side of the White Hart pub, over the canal bridge and immediately right onto the old tramway. That takes you up to the top of the ridge looking down to the reservoir on your right - follow the trail along the ride. Eventually you come to a 20m section that's too steep/rocky to ride and immediately after that you fork right to follow a bridleway that eventually drops you down to Dolygaer. Then follow the road for a couple of miles (making sure that you don't take the turning that will take you back to Talybont) and when the road peters out just keep going up the back of the mountain.
Once you're through the Gap, keep going down to the gate at the bottom and then when you reach the tarmac take the path that forks off to the right down the infamous "Babys Head" trail (marked as black dashes on the OS Map). Once you make it out of there (it's a tough bit of trail) you'll be glad to reach tarmac again. We've then followed the road round past Llanfrynach to pick up the canal tow path for a rather uninteresting and flat ride back to the start point.
The pubs in Tal-y-bont are good for post ride refreshment.
