Doubt I'll ride this weekend, ribs are still achy so I don't want to push it, especially given how often I eject. Next weekend however, that will be a different matter. dance.gif

Possibly be up for a ride Sunday 12th with a friend or 2. Have found some good bits in the past but its alway hit and miss (usually more miss than hit). Dont want the jumps n stuff, just trying to locate all the great bits of single track I'm told there is hidden in amongst there.

Anyone got a decent map or going to be there and willing to show some not too slow (but not fast) riders around?

My signature has some trail maps. Might not help so much as they dont show up or down. most trails can be done both ways. Only a select few are directiontional.

If there isnt a ride on sunday (I think there will be anyway) ask other riders in the woods. keywords are : nineyards, tanktraps, babymaker, laberinth, swanline, gully, corkscrew, stickler.

Think its time they had some proper signage and proper map.

Some of you asked about the cheap digs in Les Arcs last night...

Chalet Arc

Its not posh, but its dead cheap (14quid a night) and a mins (ride) from the lifts.

My sig has the les arcs bike site linked.

Did I mention when Im going? biggrin.gif tongue.gif stupidlyhappy.gif

Is anyone riding this weekend? If not i might go down to gezzas way and some of the south downs.

Not me....bike is hopefully going to be finished during this weekend. All pivot bearings being replaced, new bottom bracket, wheel re-build and new headset. So not done much riding at all since I came back from Wales or to be honest any physical exercise as I''ve been too cream crackered with my current commute (train) up to london. Will be looking to ease myself back in to it soon so will be up for a few 'easy' rides. Plus anyone up for a Surrey Hills ride sometime soon?

Join up on one of the Forum rides as it is so difficult to find the 'good stuff' even with a map or gps. Plus it's much more fun with the Swinley regulars. Not that I can find any of the trails myself even after absolutely loads of rides up there!!!!

Maybe the one for me....although I may be taking someone out on an 'introduction to mtb'ing' ride in the Surrey Hills next weekend.

Just ordered all the bits + second battery pack as per instructions.

How long did it take to arrive? ... they normally take ages.

Kerr I am up for a ride this weekend - the rain we have had should make the trails a bit more sticky. Let me know if you are planning one. I would love to do a night right when mine delivered.

Not sampled Swinley at night before but it would be FUN! My nightriding has mostly been around my neck of the woods (using Airbike SSC P7 Everlight on the bars and a Fenix headlight) puts a whole new perspective on trails that you think you know well.

About a week Kerr.

Once you get it, the batteries will have a little charge in already, but to get the full effect (sun.gif) they'll need to be charged up.

Then, the nightworld will be your oyster (at least for an hour and a half or so!) biggrin.gif

Can't make this w'end, but might be up for another Wednesday-nighter if SWMBO doesn't go into labour before then...

Will test the water (if you'll pardon the pun) this weekend. ph34r.gif

gone quite on here.
Hope your all having a great weekend.

Went over to swinley late yesterday afternoon.
Blimey! in the space of 4 days the braking bumps in the trails from the clubhouse are now more like staircases. Looks like its got hammered during sat morning.

Is anyone interested in Wednesday?

Weather might beat me on wednesday.

If dry I + 2 others will be down for a couple of hours from 7.

IF damp... pub.

I have entered negotiations with SWMBO to get a pass for Sunday. I've managed to amass quite a few brownie points so I'm optimistic but I think we all know that one simple slip can bring a mountain of such points tumbling down around one's ears.
marcliam
I'm a vaguely possible subject to various things but I'm also tempted to stay local mostly because I haven't been doing much riding recently and need to get myself back up to speed....

I know the feeling. After 3-4 weeks out of the saddle I went to swinley for a quick blast last Friday, it was hard work and I came away hacked off with mtb'ing disgusted.gif

Went over last night.

Didnt realize it had rained that much!
We headed out tward bagshot heath as the trails in swinley are pretty swamped.
The road under the railway line was foot deep in water.
Found some cool stuff just after the M3 tunnel. Just to the left up the hill after the tunnel there is a massive halfpipe/gully section with loads of differing drops with easy runouts.
Took a picture, but it was starting to get dark so quite blurry...

The heath sits on a a pretty high hill. The woods are riddled with DH type runs, All pretty gnarly stuff. The XC stuff over near the B3015 (Vehicle testing area) is flatter.

TBH the conditions were far to wet to really check the area out, but it certainly worth investigasting on a dryer day.
On the waty back found the infamous M3 jumps. They look cool on a dry day. Has a series of berms that loop back on themselves.
Was far to dark to get a pic.

Came back via roller coaster and the dips in the bumps had 1-2 foot of water!
Stickler had water at the bottom of most of the bombholes. Nine yards was wet roots /puddle hell.
All the dust has washed into wet sand pits. Mark put a foot down and it dissapeard up to his ankle in sand.
Clogged cleates, grinding chaines, rasping brakes.
Had to clean and lube my bike at 11pm.

Hope it all drys for the weekend.
Its in a bit of state. unsure.gif

Hopefully it will have drained/dried out a bit by Sunday pray.gif .

Light weights

04:20 here for my 12 hour shift, granted its only twice every 8 days unsure.gif

But i have worked all night before and then done a Swinley ride but then I'm a few picnics short of a sandwich.

I'm up for Sunday morning, I'll be the one in the Dorthy shoes

Unfortunately it is yet another 'no-can-do' for me. I dropped in with my bike to the Spesh dealer and have had to leave it in for them to check out why there is still a small amount of play on the shock linkage despite a total bearing replacement. I suspect I know what it is (wear in the lower shock axle) but it seems impossible to buy those sort of parts on line. Also hoping they will do it as a warranty thing. So maybe next week for me.....

Enjoy your weekends riding guys.....

I felt like doing just that - but when cycling instead and glad that i did.

Trails were very sticky, there were not too many puddles and the sun was out. Pretty good riding condition today which surprised me. Was prepared for the worst.
Thanks to Rx1 for finding all the trails and getting us back in time.
