Cheers

Went for a quick blast round swinley this evening. The trails are in top condition - dry, sticky and no dust - yes no dust.

If you thinking of cycling around swinley - now is the time to do it. Enjoy.

Hi Maj,

Sorry i missed you yesterday. we started cycling at 5.10 and were finished by 8. Lots of fun!

Hi,

I have been trying to learn Swinley over quite a few trips now. However, every time I go, I seem to find a lot of whole new sections and none of the stuff I found before. On one of my trips, I found a cracking sections of berms that looped around trees in a small cutting with some cracking single track on either side. If I remember correctly, it was not too far from Sandy Cutting but I may be wrongs as I was too busy enjoy myself to clock the distance. stupidlyhappy.gif

Any help finding it again would be greatly appreciated.

could be anywhere.
There's allot of single track like that.
stickler, seagul, tank traps, nine yards are good candidates.

check my sig for A map of the forest.

There is a few tracks still missing from the map. I really need to update it.

MIght get the logger out on thursday

I'm still hoping to get out on Thursday. But being out of ride credits with SWMBO is not a good starting point. doh.gif

Got it, thanks.

Looking at your map and from your list of possible condidate, I think it is either Tank Traps or Stickler. It will be great fun finding out which.

Had hoped to join you chaps on Thursday but I seem to have picked some sort of bug up which started with throwing up at the weekend and has now settled down to a generally dodgy/gurgly stomach and a feeling like someone has sucked out all the energy from my legs and arms. Had one day off work and back now but the idea of getting out on the bike doesn't sit well at the moment. (Mentally i'm there / physically i'm fubarred!!) - Next time hopefully!

Hope those of you who did Afan last weekend had a good one!?!

Finally managed to get down to Swinley this afternoon with the sun out. Must say, the tracks are pretty perfect at the moment after that rain we had the other day...

Does anyone fancy doing swinley this weekend? - prefer saturday/sunday. (would prefer sunday). The trails are pretty much perfect at the moment.

weds is a problem as Im car less (service/mot stuff). sad.gif

But count me in for 5:45 thursday.

Im guessing this is our usual "go as fast as possible until one of us throws up" kinda pace?

In keeping with the recent killer rides.
I propose combining a swinley ride with a porridge pot/tunnel hill ride on sunday.

Gonna need some help from those familiar with porridge pot and tunnel hill but basically linking them with the fence line.

what you all think?

I'm all fixed now so sounds like a plan - You get us around and out of Swinley, I'll do the PP and TH bit and back to the fence line.

Gonna need the stop at the canal centre cafe !

What time Sunday you thinking ?

Kerr - Top ride yesterday eve.mate, I enjoyed the no stopping ethos and this meant I was back indoors in goods time. agree.gif

Shame your own personal mission to not unclip during the ride was undone by a rather large tree stump. ph34r.gif

Thought I would hurt today, but fine.
Great ride.
Bit greasy in places now with the sprinkling of rain.
Had to recover from a wayward front wheel a few times.

I will do a swinley ride without Unclipping... that is possibly the closest.

Thanks kerr. parkerman

enjoyed it today - still can't believe how dry TH and PP were today compared to swinley despite the heavy rain.

I am really aching now but i reckon Max was ready for more.

cheers

guys

ParkerMan
Yep, cheers guys good ride. My legs were a bit wobbly towards the end. Amazingly they seem to be OK this morning.

Kerr - hope you fell better and have a great time in the Alps !

Morning all,

Anyone up for a Wednesday evening spin around Swinley? My usual riding buddy can't make it.

It would have to be a bit of a later start (around 7pm) as I've got to get back from London and then out to Swinley.

Nah, I kept falling asleep when I got home. Plus, trying to race up those last slopes on the long fire-road back to the carpark, my legs wouldn't work and I ended up granny ringing them. rolleyes.gif
Kerr
Thanks for the ride Guys.

Sorry I had to bail.
I was not right.
Was getting terrible reflux, quite painful.
Got home and discoverd she had the same plus other problems.

Didnt go to work today. definate stomach bug or something.

Feel better now.

Planning on heading to Swinley tomorrow aft for only 3rd time this year (money well spent on the annual pass... hoping to make up for it though!) - how are the trails holding up with all the rain we've had?

Not been up there for a wee while now but suspect that the trails can take a good bit more rain before they start turning claggy.....

Had an epic ride on Wednesday evening on near perfect trails. The water from the weekend had soaked in and the trails were just loose on the surface, but firm underneath. Fantastic riding. Few puddles and sloshier bits, but overall top nic.

It was one of those rides where everything just flowed (including my navigation "skills" (in the loosest possible sense): trails were smooth, the weather was perfect and my route back to the carpark coincided with a beautiful sunset filtering through the trees.

Saw this earlier (and RX1 - but I'm too thick to do two quotes in one message at the mo) but lost the interweb so couldn't say cheers.

Cheers!

Am heading there in an hour or so and have been clock-watching all day - just keep telling myself work is the necessary bit for affording new bike things.

Thanks again - and hope the riding's good for everyone heading there this weekend.

I'm off out tonight, so for me it depends on how fragile I'm feeling come the morning. I'll check the forum before bed, to see what the situation is.

Edit: Assuming anyone's riding, if I don't turn up on time and haven't let you know that I'm intending to arrive, please just assume I've stayed in bed.
