If you're out Sunday, take a shovel. You may need it wink.gif

Tyres will be spankingly clean though.

Anyway, the Swinley FB group I think are out at 9am. Cooldad and others are out at 11ish I think. Might be along myself, not sure. Then again, may find I can't even get out of my drive.

Or it could just end up slushy rain and the met office is making a big fuss just in case.

DK, is there still a ride planned at swinley tommorrow? i reckon we are going to be snowed in stupidlyhappy.gif

If traffic makes it a no go, how about horsell common?

Maj

Still planned but then some are near to Swinley and don't need to get there by car. I'd think the A322 will be clear though. Just parking that could be a problem.

Depends how much this continues. Just 1cm at the moment. Road covered, but it's not really that deep. Predicted to continue until 6am though.

If I can't get to Swinley by car, can bike it to Tunnel Hill from my place, or Newlands Corner. Would take some time. Gorrick stuff has been cancelled apparently but Stan's still planning to turn up at Tunnel Hill (Potters) for 10 with the Trolls I think.

Otherwise Horsell perhaps if I can't get elsewhere. Wonder if McLaren's pond is frozen biggrin.gif

All should be fine for Swinley I think. Disappointingly melting or has been slushed up by rain. Might even get muddy.
deadkenny
Don't know if you got there in the end. Was pretty good. More snow there than Woking has and less melting. Reasonable grip, some slush in places.

Even came across the local wildlife, or rather Stan biggrin.gif

Will be out somewhere as always, just undecided where on which day. Peaslake is nice and snowy up on the trails (or perhaps interestingly icy). Roads are clear apparently, though "bring a shovel" is advised for the car parks! Fancy having some fun up there.

Also could be up for Swinley. Depends who's doing what out of the various forums and FB groups. It's all getting confusing trying to co-ordinate rides!
mbElf
Thanks for leading today Daz and thanks for waiting for me to catch up! I was surprised how snowy it was and was quite sticky in places.

That was one thirsty ride though. I am just about to google for ways to defreeze your drink without spending 30 quid!

cheers mate

until next time stupidlyhappy.gif

IM gonna kickstart the saturday Morning rides again.

In the calender... 8:45 am meet 9 :00 rollout.

Some chat, some riding, as fast as the slowest rider.
Definatly not a heavyweight mad dash.

Should be a bit warmer than recently.

Good Man, Kerr! See you there. Been too long since I did a Swinley ride. My local stuff is still a bit muddy ATM so I'm hoping Swinley won't be too claggy. I've got the mud tyres on just in case. I treat the extra effort required to ride with the damn things as worthy winter exercise :-)

remember the trails? Im more worried about remebering how to ride a bike!

Infact, where is my bike? Better venture to the shed and check its in working order tonight.

My lodger went over last night. He mentioned stickler is fenced off ... is it being worked on again?

Any chance of doing the "Vespa Trail" at the end or do you reckon it would be too boggy? It would be nice if we could squeeze that in at the end (the whole run not from half way wink.gif )

Hmmmm, at least that should give the mortals a chance to keep up!!!

I was hoping to join in tomorrow but my son's footy match has been swapped to an 11.00 kick off, so no-go for me sad.gif

I have not been to Swinley since early Jan, I have had a few weekends doing XC stuff in the Chilterns and a few blasts along the Ridgeway from Streatley. Really different sort of riding to Swinley, a bit erm, dull by comparison however its great for building your climbing stamina and strength!

Hope to see some of you in Swinners again soon. . . .
deadkenny
Vespa Trail ?

Anyway, Swinley bog factor is low. Was out there today. Nice firm trails, slight moisture in them but not muddy really. There are some churned up patches of old but they're not especially muddy.

Running quite well really. Now, just stop breaking on berms!! wink.gif

Obviously half term this week too as car park was heaving. Same level of zero space as a weekend. Think we're really likely to see parking charges there soon. Saw the clipboards out again today, likely asking the same questions.

I'm in - meet at lookout car park ?
