Nant

The first descent at Nant yr Arian
will open your eyes to this great riding location. Enjoy!

The one with the crash.
Right Click with your mouse then select 'Save Target as' to

The
Wall
At least I think it's the Wall... A
brilliant day in January, we did so many descents via the Afan
Adventures Uplift service we lost track.
Look out it's 100mb. As
ever Right Click with your mouse then select 'Save Target as' to
save. Once running hold Alt and hit Enter to run full screen!
|
|
Wharncliffe
Woods
Wharncliffe Woods is full of
incredible steep descents which are a blast but frankly look rubbish
on helmet camera. There are also some mad fast routes through the
trees like this one. I almost impaled myself on a broken branch to
get this clip.
Look out it's 65Mb. As
ever Right Click with your mouse then select 'Save Target as' to
save. Once running hold Alt and hit Enter to run full screen!

|
Helvellyn
Descent of Lower Man
OK, so this is a slow one for the
top two thirds, but viewers were complaining we never screened any
technical stuff. So here it is, defying death on Helvellyn, it's
pretty anyway. For the feature of this amazing ride see Hell's
Ridge
|
|
High
Street 'Lost' Singletrack
This section of Bridleway is easily
missed as the obvious trail goes straight over the top. Take the
time to find the less ridden left turn however and one of the
longest natural descents around starts with this beauty.
|
|
Nidderdale
North
A section of one of the hardest and
best trails on the Nidderdale route.
|
|
Nidderdale
Shooting House Drop
Finally the new light camera let us
film some of the classic downhills on this epic ride. This is the
last descent on the Nidderdale 1 ride, it usually takes six hours to
get back to here! I edited the boring gate in the middle which is
always closed DOH!
|
|
Matterdale
Common
Not a spectacular video this one,
just a beautiful trail which is a bit harder to go fast on than it
looks. Lots of holes and rutts to catch out the unwary. Speeds up a
lot towards the end.

The dragon descent at Coed y

Skyline
Trail Final Descent
17.5Mb Windows Media
Been meaning to film this descent
for ages and it's a bit special. If you haven't much energy left at
the end of the Skyline Trail then that would be a shame, because
it's all about rocky jumps!

A fast and furious short stretch on

The videos are shot
with a helmet mounted camera giving a real 'rider viewpoint' feel
for the trail.
The camera is a tiny 'lipstick' sized marvel from RF
Concepts http://www.rfconcepts.co.uk/
Windows
Media Player 7 You will need Windows 98, ME or 2000 to run MP7. The clips should work with the latest version of Media
Player 6, for those with 95 or NT4. To run a quick test before
downloading the longer clips, try the Test
Clip which should fully load in under 5
minutes (if it takes longer you need to change something, you're
running SLOW).
QuickTime
basic is a free video player which can be downloaded and run on
any computer.
The
originals of these clips are over 50 times larger in file size. At
full quality on a standard 56K connection they would take up to two
days each to download!
The
playback speed of these videos is exactly as they were taken, they
have not been speeded up. We're flattered to hear that some of our
readers (viewers?) think they have! The digital video format used to
record them is time encoded, allowing exact verification of playback
duration.

See some more videos at mtbkanata.com
video the Canadian way. Like us, mtbkanata.com is an enthusiast web
site.
Must
mention the very helpful guys at Datavision
who provided our remote switching camcorder facility. They also do a
device to allow analogue input on certain digital cameras. Useful.
